Information on the M.Sc. Application process and Selection criteria


The program is aimed at graduate students from Universities, Technological Educational Institutes and Polytechnics of the Health Sciences discipline (eg Medicine, Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Physics, Pharmacy, Dentistry, Biotechnology, (Bio)informatics, Nursing and other relevant disciplines of Life Sciences). Candidates wishing to apply coming from a non-Biological graduate program, should have proven basic Molecular Biology knowledge, or will prove this if selected for an interview.


How to Apply


  • Application, specifying "Graduate Program in Molecular Biomedicine".

  • Two photos (passport size).

  • Certified copy of the Undergaduate Degree.

  • Certificate of Degree Recognition granted by the Hellenic NARIC (for candidates who come from Universities outside of Greece).

  • Official transcript (grades from all subjects, of all the years of study, signed and stamped by the University, stating the date of award).

  • Full curriculum vitae, which should include information on the candidate's studies, research and/or professional activities, potential scientific work and other interests.

  • Documentation proving knowledge of the English, or other foreign languages (if available).

  • Letter of intent expressing interest and documentation of the reasons for selecting the specific Graduate Program of studies (maximum 1 page long; if longer it will not be read). Instead of a letter, candidates may submit a 1.5min video of themselves stating the above in the English language.

  • Two recommendation letters, sent directly from the referees. It is the candidates responsibility to ensure that the reference letters are received ontime.

  • Declaration of the Law 1599/86 stating that the candidate is not enrolled in a M.Sc. program from another Department or University.

  • Any other information which the candidate believes would contribute towards a more positive, comprehensive and integrated view by the Evaluation Committee.

Selection Criteria

Applicantions for the M.Sc. program will be evaluated based on:


  • The grades acquired in the undergraduate studies especialy in subjects related to the M.Sc. course applied for

  • The performance during the Undergratuate final year dissertation thesis

  • Any recent laboratory or other research related experience

  • Background knowledge on basic Molecular and Cellular Biology (proven either through related undergraduate studies, or during the interview)

  • The thorough knowledge of the English language

  • Other related scientific activities

  • Reference letters

  • Personal panel interview (in English) in which potential candidates will be invited to deploy their interests and knowledge in the field of Molecular Biomedicine
